I guess it is high time I write my review about Fl studio (formerly known as Fruityloops), over 7 years of using this powerful Daw software.
Fl studio has been around for about 19 years, and it has improved from been a simple drum sequencer too, without doubt, one of the best and most used music software in the world.
Let's quickly get to it.
Fl studio is one of the world's most downloaded Daws, whether pirated or downloaded legally.
The first thing that attracts me to Fl studio, is the "Lifetime Free Updates" if you already own Fl studio the good and exciting news is you get free access to Fl Studio's future updates.
Before downloading Fl studio, there are few things you should consider;
FL Studio comes in three editions: Fruity Edition, Producer Edition, and Signature edition, the Signature edition also has its own mega edition which comes with all plugins, called All Plugins Bundle.
Briefly, let's check some features of this edition
Editions Of Fl Studio 12
Fruity Edition - This edition allows users to access the playlist, piano roll, ability to import and export midi files, rewire support and also the ability to use event automation.
Note: There is no audio recording feature
Producer Edition - This edition includes all of the features of the Fruity Edition (Off course it should!), full recording for internal and external audio tools, it also allows for viewing waveform (which is perfect), it allows the use of automation clips (which I think is nice).
Signature Editon - This edition includes all of the features of the Producer Edition (Off course it should!), it comes with series of plugins DirectWave Sampler, Harmless, NewTone, Pitcher, and Gross Beat, among many others.
Fl Studio System requirements
FL Studio requires a 2GHz AMD or Intel Pentium 3 CPU with full SSE1 support. It requires 1 GB of free disk space and at least 1 GB of RAM is recommended or higher if you are serious about your music production
I really can't say why Image-line is not yet done with the Mac version of the software, the alternate method is using Boot Camp for Intel Macs.
FL Studio 12 Updated Features
The interface has been reworked the graphics are now simpler and cleaner, FL Studio will always fit on any screen size or resolution you use.
VST plugin installation & discovery improved and simplified, newly downloaded Vst's can now be found with just a click.
Option to deselect auto-zoom in the piano roll.
Ability to detach all windows of the program, step sequencer can be detached from the main window, the menu bar can be hidden and much more.
There aren't many Daws that run perfectly as expected, Fl Studio broke the rule, it features recording and editing audio and MIDI, hosting VST plugins (as well as its own sizeable range of effects and synths), mixing and mastering, arrangement editing, live performance, and anything else you'd expect from a modern, feature-rich production system.
That's all I have to say about Fl Studio, get it below if you wanna make professional music on a friendly Gui platform.
