Roddy Ricch’s Album Faces Another Delay—Plus, the Wild Grammy Drama Explained
Roddy Ricch fans are going to have to wait a little longer for The Navy Album. Originally set for release last December, then pushed to February 21, the album’s iTunes listing now shows an expected release date of April 25, 2025. However, Apple Music still lists the February date, and Roddy himself hasn’t given a firm update beyond a vague “2025.”
While fans were waiting for the album, Roddy was making headlines for a different reason—a bizarre situation involving his lost Grammy.
The Grammy Extortion Controversy
Last year, YouTube storage hunter Prieto Hunters claimed to have found Roddy’s Grammy for Best Rap Performance (which he won in 2019 for “Racks in the Middle” with Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy) after buying an abandoned storage unit for just $280. Initially, the award was returned, but Roddy later revealed things weren’t so simple.
According to the rapper, the storage hunter tried to extort him, demanding $50,000 and a luxury watch in exchange for the trophy. Roddy explained that his assistant had suffered a severe brain injury in an accident, which led to some of his belongings, including the Grammy, ending up in storage.
“When we found out he had it, we got on the phone immediately,” Roddy said. “I offered him something, but he basically said it wasn’t enough. First, he asked for an AP (Audemars Piguet watch), then he asked for $50,000.”
Prieto Hunters denied the claims, saying he never asked for money and was actually threatened by Roddy’s team. “I returned it at NO COST and want nothing to do with them. I want no compensation, not even tickets,” he wrote in an Instagram comment.
Despite the back-and-forth, the Grammy was eventually returned at a police station, putting an end to the saga—for now.
While fans wait for The Navy Album, at least Roddy has his Grammy back.
