Kanye West & Young Thug Show Love to Drake’s New Album Despite Mixed Reviews
Drake’s latest project, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, with PARTYNEXTDOOR has been making waves since its release, and even some unexpected names are showing him love. Kanye West, who recently referred to Drizzy as his “nemesis,” surprised fans by taking to X (formerly Twitter) to give props to the album—specifically the track Gimme a Hug.
“Gimme a Hug is incredible. Sheeeeesh,” Ye wrote, while also sharing a post highlighting the song’s rapid climb to the top of Apple Music’s U.S. charts.
Young Thug also chimed in to celebrate Drake’s success, writing: “That boy back number one.”
While the album has received mixed reviews—some critics pointing to its long runtime and a perceived lack of cohesion between Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR—it’s undeniable that $ome $exy $ongs 4 U is a streaming powerhouse.
The project pulled in a massive 56.6 million first-day streams on Spotify, making it the second-biggest debut of the year so far, trailing only The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow. Over on Apple Music, it shattered the all-time record for the biggest single-day streams for an R&B album.
Drake also managed to temporarily overtake his longtime rival Kendrick Lamar for the most single-day Spotify streams by a rapper in 2025, hitting 92.4 million streams in just one day.
On the album itself, Drizzy didn’t hold back, seemingly addressing his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar in his verse on Gimme a Hug:
"Drake elimination, fake intimidation / Take a minute, take a deep breath, have a little bit of patience / ‘Drizzy, you amazing, you the inspiration / You set the bar for the next generation / You Neo in The Matrix, these n-ggas just Nemo in the ocean / Small fish, making kids feel emotion / Using you for promotion,’ truer words have never been spoken."
Drake’s latest release is on track to make a big impact on the Billboard 200 chart, though the final numbers are yet to be confirmed. Despite the mixed reception, the album’s commercial performance speaks for itself—and with both supporters and rivals taking notice, Drake remains at the center of hip-hop’s biggest conversations.
