Lil Wayne’s SNL performance got people talking, but not everyone had good things to say—so his daughter, Reginae Carter, wasn’t about to let the hate slide.
Weezy hit the stage for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special on February 16, performing Mrs. Officer with The Roots. While some fans praised his energy and said he looked “healthy” and “lively,” others weren’t as impressed. The internet quickly turned the moment into a joke, especially after Wayne recently expressed interest in performing at next year’s Super Bowl in his hometown, New Orleans.
One person commented, “Y’all tryna set this man up talking about a Super Bowl. This is barely a performance.” Another added, “This the guy y’all said should’ve done the Super Bowl? [laughing emoji]”
Reginae wasn’t having it. She jumped into the comments and fired back:
"Y’all are some d riders! My dad been having fun performing for years! He is truly himself when he hits the stage. Go play with y’all mf kids… he collected a check after this… what y’all get for hating? Not a damn thing!"
As for the Super Bowl, Wayne didn’t attend the game after being passed over for Kendrick Lamar, but he still made his presence known. Instead of the halftime show, he popped up in a hilarious Cetaphil commercial that aired three days before the big game. The ad played on his “dry” and “sensitive” situations—before revealing the official release date for Tha Carter VI (June 6, 2025).
Interestingly, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez later confirmed that Wayne was actually in the running for the Super Bowl halftime show before Kendrick was chosen. She defended the decision, explaining, “Kendrick is the right person for the show at this moment. He’s had an incredible year, very deserving of the attention.”
So while Wayne may have missed out on the Super Bowl stage, his daughter made sure to remind everyone that his legacy—and his bank account—are just fine.
