Drake’s Hot Chicken Investment Could Net Him Over $1 Billion
Drake is about to cash in big time on one of his smartest business moves yet. The rap superstar’s investment in Dave’s Hot Chicken is set to pay off massively, as the popular restaurant chain is reportedly exploring a sale valued at more than $1.3 billion.
According to a Reuters report on Tuesday (February 11), Dave’s Hot Chicken has partnered with investment bank North Point to explore potential buyers. The chain, which started as a small pop-up in Los Angeles back in 2017, has grown into a fast-food empire with over 250 locations worldwide and $1 billion in annual sales.
Drizzy joined the brand as an investor in 2021, securing what Eater described as “a very good stake” in the company. With the rumored billion-dollar sale, Drake could be walking away with a serious return on his investment.
While Drake is making major business moves, he's also caught up in some music drama.
Freddie Gibbs Calls Out Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR for Copying His Style
Freddie Gibbs has put Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR on blast, accusing them of stealing his style for their new album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U (stylized as $$$4U).
Gibbs pointed out the similarities between their project and his own 2022 album, $oul $old $eparately (aka $$$). The resemblance goes beyond the title—Drake and PND’s album cover even features cartoon bunnies, a nod Gibbs believes is too close to his longtime “Big Rabbit” mascot.
Clearly unimpressed, Gibbs took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (February 13) to air his frustrations.
“Damn they even stole the rabbits too. I’m flattered,” he tweeted, referencing the album artwork. He then cleverly flipped the moment to promote his own music, reposting an old $oul $old $eparately commercial with the caption, “$$$4U ❤️”.
Fans quickly rallied behind Gibbs, with many calling out Drake and PND for allegedly borrowing from his aesthetic. The rapper even retweeted posts echoing his claims, ensuring his message reached as many people as possible.
Freddie Gibbs & Drake: Friends or Foes?
Interestingly, Gibbs has never collaborated with Drake or directly beefed with him. However, he has taken inspiration from Drizzy in the past. In 2021, Gibbs dropped a freestyle over “Champagne Poetry” from Certified Lover Boy, where he addressed everything from being snubbed at the Grammys and BET Awards to Kendrick Lamar’s infamous “smoking on your top five” line.
Last year, when Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef escalated, Gibbs had jokes. After Kendrick rapped, “And your best work is a light pack / N-gga, Prince outlived Mike Jack” on “Like That”, Gibbs humorously responded, “First of all, Mike ain’t dead”, referencing their shared hometown of Gary, Indiana—Michael Jackson’s birthplace.
While the rap world continues to debate who won the Drake vs. Kendrick battle, Gibbs offered a different perspective on the real winners:
“The record labels.”
