“School No Be Sure Ticket to Success” – Egungun of Lagos Stirs Reactions 🎤🔥
Popular content creator Egungun of Lagos has got people talking after saying that going to school doesn’t guarantee success in life. According to him, having a university degree doesn’t automatically mean you’ll make it big.
Egungun shared his own experience, revealing that many of his employees, including his chef, personal assistants, and videographer, are all university graduates, yet they work for him despite their qualifications.
“A Certificate No Dey Put Money for Pocket”
Using his chef as an example, Egungun explained that Tayo, the person who cooks for him daily, has two degrees in Biology, Nutrition, and Dietetics and even graduated with a second-class upper, yet he now works as a chef.
In his words:
"School no be sure ticket to success. My chef, Tayo, studied Biology and has two degrees—he’s a nutritionist and dietitian. He even graduated with a second-class upper. I also have five staff members, and all my PAs have degrees. Even my videographer is a graduate."
Egungun’s message is clear—book knowledge alone won’t make you successful. He believes that success comes more from skills, smart decisions, and knowing how to make money, not just from having a degree.
“Street Sense vs School Sense” – Nigerians React
As expected, his statement has divided opinions online. Some people agree with him, saying that in today’s Nigeria, who you know, the skills you have, and how sharp you are matter more than certificates. They point out that many graduates are struggling to find jobs, while those who learn handwork, start businesses, or develop a skill are making money.
On the flip side, others argue that education is still important because it opens doors and helps people grow mentally. They believe that while a degree might not guarantee success, it still gives people an advantage in life.
The Reality of Success
Egungun’s statement has once again raised an important question—is school really worth it? The truth is, success doesn’t have one single formula. Some people make it through education, while others succeed through business, talent, or skills. At the end of the day, it’s all about hustle, determination, and knowing how to grab opportunities.
