A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Felony Assault Case – “Thank Y’all for Saving My Life”
A$AP Rocky can finally breathe a sigh of relief! After nearly three weeks of trial, the rapper has been declared not guilty on all counts in his felony assault case, where he was accused of shooting A$AP Relli in November 2021.
The trial, which began on January 24, officially wrapped up on February 14, with the jury deliberating for just three hours before reaching a verdict on February 18. As soon as the not-guilty decision was announced, cheers erupted in the courtroom. An emotional Rocky immediately jumped over the barrier to embrace his family, overwhelmed with gratitude.
"Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision," he told the jurors as he exited the courtroom.
Rihanna, who had been present for parts of the trial, brought their two young sons, RZA (2 years old) and Riot (1 year old), to court on February 13, showing support for her partner during the final days of the case.
The Case Against Rocky
Rocky was facing two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, charges that carried a maximum 24-year prison sentence. However, prosecutors had planned to recommend 8 to 10 years if he was convicted.
At the heart of the case was whether Rocky’s gun was real or a prop. The prosecution argued that the firearm was real and that Rocky intentionally fired it, while the defense claimed it was merely a fake prop gun.
During the trial, the judge reminded jurors that self-defense was a valid argument if Rocky “reasonably believed he was in imminent danger of suffering bodily injury or being unlawfully touched.”
Surprisingly, Rocky chose not to testify in his defense. When asked by the judge if he was waiving his right to speak, he simply responded: "I do, Your Honor."
A$AP Mob Stands by Rocky
Rocky wasn’t alone in this battle—several A$AP Mob members, including A$AP Lou and A$AP Twelvyy, testified in his favor, supporting his version of events.
In a bizarre courtroom moment on February 7, Twelvyy was asked about the meaning of "AWGE," Rocky’s label and creative agency. The group has always kept the meaning a secret, with one of their core rules being: "Never reveal what AWGE means."
As Twelvyy hesitated, Rocky unexpectedly broke courtroom decorum, speaking up from the defense table to warn him: "Don’t say it." The prosecutor then pressed Twelvyy on what he heard, but he shrugged it off, saying: "I heard something. I’m not too sure what I heard. I was listening to you."
With the case now behind him, Rocky can move forward without the looming threat of prison time. The verdict is a major victory for the rapper, and fans are celebrating his freedom and return to music.
What’s Next for A$AP Rocky?
Now that he’s cleared, all eyes are on what’s next for Rocky. A comeback project? A celebration with Rihanna and their kids? One thing’s for sure—he’s back in the game and ready to move forward.
