Portable Declared Wanted by Ogun Police Over Alleged Attack on Government Officials
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has found himself in legal trouble once again. The Ogun State Police Command has officially declared him wanted following an alleged violent attack on government officials.
According to reports, officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development were carrying out their duties in the Ota area when they were allegedly assaulted and chased away by Portable and his associates. The attack reportedly disrupted the officials’ work, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.
In connection with the incident, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested and arraigned in Abeokuta two weeks ago. However, the singer himself has remained on the run, evading police custody while allegedly seeking leniency from the government.
Police Issue Official Statement
The Ogun State Police Command has released an official statement confirming that a court order has been issued for Portable’s arrest. The statement, dated February 17, 2025, reads in part:
“PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: OGUN POLICE COMMAND DECLARES HABEEB OKIKIOLA (AKA ‘PORTABLE’) WANTED
Valid Court Order Issued for His Arrest and Presentation at Any Police Station
The Ogun State Police Command hereby declares Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as ‘Portable,’ wanted for his involvement in a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties.
On February 5, 2025, at approximately 1000hrs, officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development were on an official assignment in Ota when they were forcefully obstructed by Portable and his associates. This led to a violent altercation that resulted in serious disruptions.”
The police have urged anyone with information regarding Portable’s whereabouts to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
Portable's Legal Troubles Continue
This isn’t the first time Portable has had a run-in with the law. Over the past few years, the singer has been involved in multiple controversies, from public altercations to legal battles. In 2023, he was briefly detained for allegedly assaulting a police officer, and in 2024, he was in the news for clashing with concert organizers over unpaid fees.
Portable has not yet publicly responded to the police declaration, and it remains unclear if he will turn himself in or continue to evade arrest. Meanwhile, public reaction has been divided, with some fans expressing support for the singer, while others believe he should face the law if found guilty.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on how Portable navigates this latest controversy—whether he will clear his name or find himself behind bars once again.
