Portable Surrenders to Lagos Police, Faces Transfer to Ogun for Investigation!

Portable Surrenders to Police, Set to Face Further Investigation in Ogun State

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development on Wednesday, February 19, stating that Portable will be transferred to the Ogun State Police Command for further investigation.

“Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,” Hundeyin said in a statement.

While the details surrounding his surrender remain unclear, the singer has been in the spotlight for multiple legal issues in recent months. Portable, known for his outspoken and sometimes erratic behavior, has had several run-ins with law enforcement. His latest brush with the law comes after reports of alleged involvement in an incident that prompted police intervention.

Portable’s legal troubles are not new. In 2023, he was arrested and charged after resisting police officers who had attempted to arrest him at his bar in Ogun State. He was later granted bail. Prior to that, he had been involved in various public controversies, including altercations with fellow musicians, promoters, and even members of his own team.

Despite his legal troubles, Portable remains a major figure in Nigeria’s street-hop music scene. His breakout hit, Zazoo Zeh, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee, catapulted him into stardom in 2021. Since then, he has maintained a steady presence in the industry, consistently releasing music while also making headlines for his controversial lifestyle.

His arrest and transfer to Ogun State raise questions about the nature of the investigation and potential charges he may face. The Ogun State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but it is expected that more details will emerge as the case progresses.

Fans and industry observers have taken to social media to react to the news, with some expressing concern for the singer’s well-being, while others criticize his repeated legal issues. Portable himself has often portrayed a defiant attitude toward law enforcement, frequently boasting about his connections and influence. However, his recent decision to surrender suggests a possible shift in his approach.

The coming days will determine what legal consequences, if any, Portable will face. For now, all eyes remain on the Ogun State Police Command as they take over the case.
