Suge Knight Claims 2Pac Was Obsessed With Signing Aaliyah Before His Death
2Pac had big dreams of working with Aaliyah—so big that, according to Suge Knight, he was ready to sign her and produce an entire album before his untimely death.
Speaking from behind bars in a recent call to The Art of Dialogue, the former Death Row boss shared that Pac was completely taken by Aaliyah after seeing her perform in Las Vegas.
“Pac wanted to sign Aaliyah,” Suge revealed. “We went to see Gladys Knight perform, and Aaliyah was there. After that, he was sold. He said, ‘I wanna do an album with Aaliyah.’”
Suge recalled how excited 2Pac was about the idea, describing it as a rare moment of pure enthusiasm.
“I ain’t never seen that little muthafucka so happy. He wasn’t thinking about signing nobody else. Out of all the girls and women he’d ever seen, he thought she was the biggest star and had the best voice ever.”
According to Knight, if things had played out differently, Pac and Aaliyah would have created something special.
“He lost his mind over Aaliyah,” Suge added. “He talked about her for days—I got tired of hearing it.”
Keefe D’s Attempt to Dodge Murder Charges Fails
In other 2Pac-related news, the man accused of playing a role in his murder, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, will have to face trial after a judge ruled that he does not have immunity.
Keefe D had filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him, claiming the long delay in bringing him to trial had violated his rights. His legal team argued that key witnesses were either dead or missing, and that material evidence had been lost over the years.
His lawyers also insisted that Keefe was initially granted immunity when he spoke to authorities about the case, including an alleged deal with the LAPD during their investigation into The Notorious B.I.G.’s murder.
However, prosecutors pushed back, saying there was no proof of such agreements. Judge Carli Kierny ultimately ruled against Keefe’s motion, meaning his trial will move forward.
