D’Angelo, GloRilla, Meek Mill & More Set to Shut Down Roots Picnic 2025

Roots Picnic 2025: D’Angelo, GloRilla, Meek Mill & More Set to Take the Stage

The Roots Picnic 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest music events of the year! The legendary festival, hosted annually by The Roots in their hometown of Philadelphia, has unveiled a powerhouse lineup featuring D’Angelo, GloRilla, and Meek Mill, along with a mix of R&B, hip-hop, and rock stars, including Tems, Latto, and Lenny Kravitz.

As always, The Roots will do more than just host—they’ll be taking the stage themselves for a special set celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic major-label debut, Do You Want More?!!!??! On top of that, Black Thought will deliver his signature live mixtape performance alongside DJ J.Period, with guest appearances from rap heavyweights Pusha T and 2 Chainz.

But the festival isn’t just staying in Philly this year. The Roots are expanding their reach with A Roots Picnic Experience: Class of ’95, a one-day event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 8, 2025. This West Coast edition will bring together some of the most influential names in hip-hop, including Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, E-40, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Raekwon, DJ Quik, Goodie Mob, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. And just like in Philly, The Roots will serve as the house band, ensuring every performance is nothing short of legendary.

Questlove, reflecting on the significance of 1995 for The Roots, shared why this moment is so special for the group.

“Well, 1995 was our true arrival,” he explained. “1987 was when Tariq’s world and my world came together in high school. 1991 was when we gave ourselves permission to chase this dream. But 1995? That was when everything came together—when Do You Want More?!!!??! was released into the world.”

He also highlighted how hip-hop was in a golden era back then, with mainstream radio, big-budget music videos, and a wave of creativity that shaped the genre’s evolution.

“Those were the days when classic album after classic album dropped, unleashing countless new ideas about art,” he added. “It was a time when the world was our oyster.”

Roots Picnic has always been more than just a festival—it’s a celebration of music, culture, and artistry. Year after year, it brings together a mix of hip-hop icons, emerging stars, and genre-blending acts, creating a lineup that appeals to every music lover.

With a festival this stacked, tickets are bound to sell out fast. Whether you’re catching the action in Philly or LA, Roots Picnic 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience. Get your tickets now and be part of the magic!
