Cam’ron Reveals the Real Reason Lil Wayne & Juelz Santana’s Album Got Shelved

Cam’ron Clears the Air on Why Juelz Santana & Lil Wayne’s ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ Never Dropped

For years, fans have wondered why Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated joint album I Can’t Feel My Face never saw an official release. Now, Cam’ron is setting the record straight.

On the latest episode of his Talk With Flee show (February 11), Cam addressed the long-standing rumors that he blocked the album. While he admitted there was a time when they weren’t all on the same page, the real reason came down to industry politics—specifically, a business dispute between Universal and Def Jam.

At the time, Lil Wayne was a star but hadn’t yet reached superstar status. According to Cam, when Def Jam tried to release I Can’t Feel My Face, Universal—Wayne’s parent label—stepped in with a harsh deal:

“Universal told Def Jam, ‘Wayne hasn’t turned in his album yet, so if y’all wanna put this project out, we’re taking 95%, and Def Jam can take 5%.’”

Since Cam and Juelz had a joint venture deal with Def Jam, that meant they would have only received a mere 2.5% of the album’s profits—something Def Jam was unwilling to agree to.

“So Def Jam told me, ‘Cam, we love you, but we’re not doing that. Maybe we can revisit it after Wayne hands in his project, but until then, no.’”

Ultimately, that decision stalled the project indefinitely, though Cam continues to take the blame.

Juelz Santana previously echoed a similar explanation, calling the album’s fate a result of “politics.” He pointed out that industry red tape also blocked Lil Wayne’s T-Wayne collab with T-Pain from releasing officially.

Back in 2005-2006, getting a major-label collab album was much harder than it is today. Unlike now—where artists like Lil Baby & Durk or Drake & Future can drop joint projects with ease—labels back then had more control over what actually got released.

Despite never getting a proper rollout, I Can’t Feel My Face leaked online years ago, giving fans at least a taste of what could have been.
