Diddy Fights Back: Sues NBC for $100M Over Kim Porter Death Claims in Documentary
Diddy is hitting back against NBC with a massive $100 million lawsuit, claiming the network and its streaming service, Peacock, falsely implicated him in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter.
Filed on Wednesday (Feb. 12), the lawsuit targets Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, a documentary that explores the hip-hop mogul’s rise to fame while also delving into the numerous allegations against him. Diddy argues that the film irresponsibly promotes conspiracy theories, particularly surrounding Porter’s passing in 2018.
Kim Porter, the mother of three of Diddy’s children, was ruled to have died from lobar pneumonia, with no foul play suspected. However, the documentary features an interview with Porter’s former partner, Al B. Sure!, who describes seeing her just weeks before her death. At one point, he even refers to her passing as “murder” before backtracking.
According to Diddy’s legal team, NBC intentionally twisted these statements to create a false and damaging narrative, suggesting that Porter—and others close to Diddy—met untimely deaths under suspicious circumstances. The lawsuit claims this was done “maliciously” to boost viewership.
The lawsuit also calls out the inclusion of Courtney Burgess, a man who has made shocking claims that he possesses incriminating videos of Diddy engaging in sexual acts with celebrities, including potential minors. Burgess has also alleged that Porter gave him a copy of her memoir, along with footage of Diddy sexually assaulting individuals.
Diddy has already sued Burgess for $50 million, calling his statements “false and defamatory.” His legal team insists that Burgess and other figures in the documentary are spreading lies for personal gain, poisoning public perception and potentially influencing legal proceedings.
Currently, Diddy is facing serious legal troubles, including sex trafficking charges and more than 40 civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct. He has denied all accusations.
NBC has not yet responded to the lawsuit. However, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy is just one of several upcoming projects dissecting his controversial past. Longtime rival 50 Cent is reportedly producing a separate docuseries for Netflix that could further add to Diddy’s mounting problems.
As the legal battle intensifies, Diddy appears determined to push back against what he sees as a coordinated effort to destroy his reputation. Whether this lawsuit will succeed remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—his fight is far from over.
