"Artists Are Stressful" – Tiwa Savage on Why She Won’t Sign Anyone to Her Label
Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has made it clear—she has no plans to sign any upcoming artists under her record label. In a candid interview with Forbes Africa, the Water & Garri hitmaker opened up about the challenges that come with managing and mentoring musicians.
According to Tiwa, handling an artist is a full-time responsibility, one she doesn’t believe she’s cut out for. "People always ask me, ‘When are you going to sign an artist?’" she said. "But honestly, I don’t think I have that gift. Artists are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then wake up to see my artist trending for something crazy."
Her honest take sheds light on the behind-the-scenes struggles of artist management—where label owners often find themselves dealing with not just music, but controversies, egos, and the pressure of keeping their signees on track.
For now, Tiwa is fully focused on her own career, continuing to dominate the global music scene without the added weight of managing another artist’s journey.
