Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has opened up about the threats and struggles she’s facing since his passing. In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, she revealed that both her life and that of her one-year-old son, Liam, are in danger.
According to Omowunmi, she receives death threats almost daily and has been physically attacked by her late husband’s former boss, Naira Marley, and his associates. She also accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of trying to take control of Mohbad’s properties and making life difficult for her.
“We no longer feel safe. I get death threats in my DMs almost every day. It’s reached a point where I either speak up or suffer in silence,” she said.
She also claimed her father-in-law, who once supported her marriage to Mohbad, is now calling their son a bastard. “He was the happiest when he officiated our wedding, but now he’s saying Liam has bow legs and that no one in their family has that. He even claims my husband wanted to throw my baby off the Third Mainland Bridge,” she added.
Mohbad’s death in September 2023 sparked outrage and speculation, especially since he had left Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label over contract disputes. Videos surfaced showing the late singer being assaulted by Naira Marley’s associate, Sam Larry, further fueling suspicions.
Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arrested and arraigned on October 6, 2023, in connection to the case but were later granted bail after pleading not guilty.
