Joe Budden Claps Back at Drake: ‘I’m Not Beefing With a Corpse’
Joe Budden isn’t interested in entertaining Drake’s latest jabs—because, in his eyes, the fight isn’t even worth it anymore.
After Drake posted a video on his private Instagram of Budden stepping out of a car, cigarette in hand, with Lil Wayne’s Let It All Work Out playing, Joe wasted no time firing back on The Joe Budden Podcast.
“Drake, don’t shoot at me now that you ice cold,” Budden said. “I’m not doing a back and forth with a corpse. I wanted to do it when you was lit. It was fun. Don’t go get shot all through the year and then pop up like Bernie at Weekend at Bernie’s wanting to shoot at me now. No.”
He didn’t stop there, adding: “99 n*as done jumped on your ass. You out smoking hookah in turquoise boots. Don’t post me. Go get your fking lick back.”
A Long History of Tension
Budden and Drake’s rocky relationship goes way back, with jabs thrown both in music and on social media. Their feud reignited in 2023 when Joe trashed For All the Dogs, accusing Drake of “rapping for the children” and dating 25-year-olds.
Drizzy clapped back hard, calling Budden a “failed” rapper who switched careers out of necessity.
“You switched careers cause the things that pop into your brain had you broke living check to check,” Drake wrote. “The raps you write had 450 men showing up to your shows in dusty Enyce jeans to screw up their face to Mood Muzik 29 and pretend you are the GOAT.”
He twisted the knife even further, adding: “I own a 767… he owns a modest house in the 973 and flies first class on special occasions.”
Despite the back and forth, Budden insists his criticism of Drake comes from a place of love. While talking with Lupe Fiasco on X Spaces last year, he addressed the perception that he “hates” Drizzy.
“No, but it’s from love,” he said, before flipping the script on Lupe: “And you hate Kendrick from love.”
Love or not, this is one hip-hop rivalry that never seems to die.
