A$AP Rocky’s UK Soccer Club Deal Back on Track After Trial Victory
With his legal troubles now behind him, A$AP Rocky is moving forward with a major business move—buying into a UK soccer club.
Back in October, reports surfaced that the Harlem rapper was part of an investment group looking to acquire Tranmere Rovers, a League Two club based in Birkenhead, England. Led by his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, the group aims to purchase 80% of the club for over $16 million. Rocky has been “committed” to the bid from the start, with plans to attend games and use his star power to boost the club’s visibility and revenue.
Now that he has been acquitted on all counts in his felony assault trial, the deal is back on track and expected to be finalized before the start of the next season, according to The Independent.
A$AP Rocky & Rihanna’s Emotional Reaction to the Verdict
Tacopina, who represented Rocky in the high-profile case, recently opened up about the couple’s emotional reaction to the verdict. Speaking to Extra, he revealed that Rocky and Rihanna were so relieved they jokingly promised to name their next child after him.
“They grabbed me and said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,’” Tacopina shared.
The 58-year-old attorney also recounted a powerful moment just before the verdict was read. Rocky, facing the possibility of a decade-long prison sentence, turned to Tacopina and said:
"Joe, I just want you to know, I know how hard you fought here. I know everything you’ve done, and I just appreciate you so much. We’re in this together, no matter what, and I love you."
Tacopina admitted it was rare for someone in such a high-stakes moment to pause and express gratitude, calling it a special gesture from the rapper.
A$AP Rocky Speaks Out After the Verdict
Following his court victory, A$AP Rocky stepped outside to address the media and express his relief.
"Thank God first. You gotta thank God first," he said. "And I really wanna thank the jury for making the right decision."
Reflecting on the past four years of legal battles, Rocky called the experience “crazy” but remained grateful.
"We blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y’all. All praise be to God."
Rihanna & Hip-Hop Community Celebrate His Freedom
Rihanna also took to social media to celebrate her boyfriend’s victory, writing:
"The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful, humbled by his mercy."
With Tranmere Rovers now back in focus, Rocky is set to expand his business ventures into sports, marking a new chapter in his career beyond music.
