Freddie Gibbs Calls Out Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR for Allegedly Biting His Style
Freddie Gibbs isn’t letting this one slide. The rapper has accused Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR of copying elements from his 2022 album $oul $old $eparately with their upcoming project, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
From the stylized dollar sign branding to the bunny mascot imagery, Gibbs sees too many similarities to ignore. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (February 13), he made his stance clear:
"Damn, they even stole the rabbits too. I’m flattered."
He didn’t stop there. Gibbs seized the moment to plug his own project, resharing an old promo clip for $oul $old $eparately with the caption: “$$$4u ❤️.” He also amplified fan posts calling out Drake and PND for allegedly biting his aesthetic.
The controversy started after Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR revealed the tracklist and artwork for $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, set to drop on February 14. The back cover features cartoon bunnies, a visual that closely resembles Gibbs’ signature “Big Rabbit” branding, which he’s used for years.
Though Gibbs and Drake have never collaborated or had direct issues, the Indiana rapper has taken inspiration from the OVO boss in the past. In 2021, he dropped a freestyle over Drake’s Certified Lover Boy intro, Champagne Poetry, touching on everything from Kendrick Lamar’s dominance to industry snubs.
Gibbs also chimed in during last year’s Drake vs. Kendrick beef, reacting to Kendrick’s controversial Like That line about Michael Jackson and Prince:
"First of all, Mike ain’t dead," he joked, referencing his hometown pride as a fellow Gary, Indiana native.
When it came to choosing a winner between Drake and Kendrick, Gibbs gave a blunt but telling response:
"The record labels."
Now, as his name gets dragged into the conversation surrounding $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, it looks like Gibbs isn’t letting Drake and PND off the hook so easily. Will this turn into a full-blown rap feud, or just another moment of industry drama? Stay tuned.
