JAY-Z Speaks Out on Dismissed Lawsuit: “I Lost $20M Over False Allegations”
JAY-Z has revealed that he suffered a staggering $20 million financial loss due to a now-dismissed rape lawsuit that linked him and Diddy to shocking allegations. Though the lawsuit was voluntarily withdrawn last week, the damage had already been done.
In a legal filing submitted before the case was dropped, Hov detailed the massive impact on his business, stating that the lawsuit cost him major deals in the sports and entertainment industries.
“Mr. Buzbee’s actions undermined my relationship, and my company Roc Nation’s relationship, with other businesses,” the statement read, referring to the attorney who represented the anonymous accuser.
He specifically pointed to deals tied to sporting events, saying: “Immediately after Mr. Buzbee went public with his false accusations, my company Roc Nation lost other contracts in the sports and entertainment space that would have generated revenues of approximately $20 million per year.”
JAY-Z also accused Buzbee of intentionally filing the lawsuit to create maximum damage, particularly around the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, which features his wife, Beyoncé, and daughter, Blue Ivy. He recalled being put in an impossible position: “I either bow to his demands or endure personal and financial ruin.”
Adding to the personal toll, he shared how he was criticized for attending his daughter’s big night amid the scandal, with reports even suggesting Disney was hesitant about his presence.
The lawsuit, which accused JAY-Z and Diddy of raping a 13-year-old at a party in 2000, was officially dismissed on February 14 after the accuser withdrew the claims. Despite this, JAY-Z made it clear that the damage was already done, calling the experience “traumatic” for himself and his family.
“The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” he stated. “I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma my wife, my children, and my loved ones have endured can never be dismissed.”
He also took aim at the legal system, criticizing how easily lawsuits can be filed without consequences for false accusations:
“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”
Diddy’s legal team echoed similar sentiments, calling the dismissal “confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.”
While JAY-Z considers this a victory, he continues to push back against the impact of baseless accusations, urging the justice system to protect both real victims and those falsely accused.
