Kanye West Claps Back at Lyor Cohen, Cites Irv Gotti in Explosive Rant
Kanye West is never one to hold back, and this time, he’s taking aim at music executive Lyor Cohen after being called out over his antisemitic remarks.
Cohen, a major figure in the rap industry and now YouTube’s Global Head of Music, penned an open letter condemning Ye’s controversial actions—including selling swastika-branded merchandise on his Yeezy website. In his message, Cohen urged Kanye to recognize the harm of his rhetoric and use his influence to heal rather than divide.
“Your words and actions are not only offensive but triggering to all decent people who recognize the horrors of the Holocaust and the suffering of millions,” Cohen wrote. “The Jewish and Black experiences share a rich history of collaboration and mutual support, particularly in the music industry… I urge you to reflect on this shared legacy.”
But Kanye wasn’t having it.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Ye fired back by mocking Cohen’s name (“LEE OR let me call you by your incorrect name also”) and accusing him of profiting off music that promotes violence in the Black community.
“You and your whole industry have promoted and got paid off songs where Black people glorify killing each other,” Kanye wrote. “But my T-shirt is the worst thing ever.”
He then brought up Cohen’s ex-girlfriend, fashion mogul Tory Burch, and made some wild claims about an alleged interaction with her.
“All of y’all are like girls who don’t take accountability,” he continued. “Then y’all threaten and extort people around me… And to think when Tory Burch came to the door with a towel on I didn’t smash cause I looked at you as a friend.”
Ye ended his rant by invoking Irv Gotti—who worked with Cohen at Def Jam and recently passed away—claiming Gotti had some choice words for Cohen before his death.
“And you know what Irv said to you before he passed and since he not here, I’ll say it. Suuuuck Myyy Diiiick.”
As expected, the post sparked massive reactions before Kanye deleted it. The controversy continues, but one thing’s for sure—Kanye isn’t backing down anytime soon.
