Kendrick Lamar Joins Marvel: New Music for Captain America: Brave New World
Kendrick Lamar is bringing his lyrical genius to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again! According to Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie, the Compton rap icon has recorded the title track for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mackie excitedly spilled the news, saying, “Kendrick did the title song for my movie. I hope that’s not supposed to be a surprise. I’m breaking it here first. I’m so excited, man.”
While there’s been some speculation about whether Mackie was referring to Lamar’s N95—which was previously featured in a teaser trailer—it seems more likely that he’s talking about an entirely new track. If that’s the case, fans won’t have to wait long, as Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14.
This isn’t Kendrick’s first collaboration with Marvel. He famously curated and produced the Black Panther soundtrack in 2017, delivering hits like All the Stars and King’s Dead. Now, with another Marvel project under his belt, anticipation is high for what he has in store.
Kendrick’s Unstoppable Run
This news comes amid a historic year for Kendrick. At the 2025 Grammy Awards, he dominated, taking home multiple awards, further cementing his legacy as one of hip-hop’s greatest. He also made history as the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, delivering a powerful performance that included his viral Drake diss track, Not Like Us.
Kendrick’s halftime show wasn’t just a hit—it shattered records. With 133.5 million viewers, it became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance in history, surpassing the previous record set by Michael Jackson in 1993.
Following the performance, Kendrick’s longtime manager and pgLang co-founder, Dave Free, spoke to The Wall Street Journal about the creative vision behind the show. He described it as a cinematic and theatrical masterpiece, pulling inspiration from legendary halftime performances by Beyoncé, Prince, and Michael Jackson.
“The feel of it is Black America. What does Black America look like, and how do we control that narrative versus how the world perceives it?” Free explained.
Instead of relying on a greatest-hits setlist, Kendrick chose songs that made a statement, focusing on his latest album GNX and his recent feud with Drake.
What’s Next?
With a record-breaking Super Bowl performance, Grammy wins, and now a Marvel movie song on the way, Kendrick is proving once again that he’s in a league of his own.
Now, the big question remains—what will this new track sound like? And could it be part of a bigger project?
