MRhythmizer by MeldaProduction (Plugin Review)

What if you could create an unlimited number of crazy rhythms?

Well, you can! Let me introduce you to MRhythmizer by MeldaProduction, it is a super awesome time manipulation effect that uses an integrated sequencer to control time, volume, and filters.

Whether you are creating stuttering effects, glitches, gating, and even scratches, MRhythmizer is your call for that, as it provides all its effects with stunning audio quality.

Let's Get to Know Some of Its Features...

The General Module

The general pane contains the basic settings such as Scratch, Tempo, Shuffle, and Time.

Scratch manually controls the time offset, what I like about the scratch knob is that you can create scratches without editing the time sequence, you can use automation to control this for creative scratch effects.

The Tempo controls the tempo, so, if you want it to be in sync with your host DAW, you simply dial the knob to the left, and if otherwise, you dial it to the right. Shuffle simply modifies the note, e.g triplets,  and dotted notes. Lastly, the Speed gives you the option to change the playback speed, what is interesting in this is that it is still gonna be in sync with the host according to the Tempo parameter.

At first, this module seems confusing but if you take time to know what each one of them is doing, it's a breeze.

Filter Section

Filter pane features a High-pass, and Low Pass. The high-pass simply allows the frequency above the cutoff frequency to pass, those below are filtered out, you can use the knob to defines the maximal cut-off frequency of the highpass filter. Low-pass allows the frequency below the cutoff to pass, those above are filtered out, you can use the knob to define the minimal cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter.

This module is close to useless if you already have a filter plugin, and the other issue is, it might stress your CPU a bit, so, I'll recommend you go with a stock filter plugin if you really need one.

Sequences panel (Home of Effects)

The sequences pane contains 36 available sequences for time, 36 available sequences for volume, and 36 available sequences for filter - each sequence can be up to 64 quarter notes long and automatically synchronize with the song, and time sequences can look up to 8 quarter notes into the past.

I'll let you on a gem - You can automate the switching between sequences and then you use a modulator to trigger sequences automatically. This can be a powerful creative idea, enjoy away.

► Key Features:

  • 36 available sequences for time, 36 available sequences for volume, and 36 available sequences for filter
  • Controllable via MIDI, modulation, and automation
  • Scratching slider - whenever you like to add some scratches, it is as easy as moving a slider.
  • 4 global modulators - Each modulator works as LFO, follower, midi/audio triggered ADSR envelopes, a pitch detector, or even a combination.
  • Up to 8 channels of surround processing, which makes them ideal for audio production for movies, games, etc.
  • Sinc interpolation and high-quality upsampling - MRhythmizer implements the most advanced technologies to provide the best audio quality.
  • Extremely advanced and easy-to-use user interface
  • Automatic synchronization to host tempo
  • MIDI controllers with MIDI learn - you can map any parameter to any MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard and control it in real time or record and automate it.
  • Very fast, optimized for SSE and SSE2 processors.
  • Global preset management and online preset exchange

► System Requirements:

Windows

  • Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • VST / VST3 / AAX compatible host (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support

Always use 32-bit plugins in 32-bit hosts or 64-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts!

Note: 64-bit plugins can't work in 32-bit hosts even if the operating system is 64-bit. Do NOT use 32-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts. They would have to be bridged and can become slow and unstable.

Mac OS X

  • Mac OS X (10.7 and newer, 32-bit or 64-bit)
  • VST / VST3 / AU / AAX compatible host (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Intel/AMD processor with SSE2 support
