OutKast Earns First Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nomination—And Their Response Is Classic
Hip-hop legends OutKast have officially been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame—marking the first time the duo has been up for the prestigious honor. Among the 14 nominees for the 2025 class, they are the only rap act in the running, standing alongside icons like Mariah Carey, The White Stripes, Soundgarden, Oasis, and Joy Division/New Order.
Despite being eligible since 2018, OutKast had yet to receive a nomination—until now. Their response? As effortlessly cool as you’d expect. Taking to Instagram, Big Boi and André 3000 kept it short and sweet: “‘Preciate it – – Big & 3.”
Fans can now cast their votes daily on the Rock Hall’s official website until April 21, with the official inductees set to be announced in April. A televised ceremony will follow later in the year.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame chairman John Sykes praised this year’s nominees, saying, “These remarkable artists have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers.”
Hip-hop has long had a complicated relationship with the Hall of Fame, with many legends being overlooked for years. However, the tide has been shifting. Last year, A Tribe Called Quest was inducted, with comedian Dave Chappelle leading the tribute. Other rap icons in the Hall include JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Missy Elliott.
OutKast’s nomination is long overdue, and if the fans have their way, hip-hop’s most dynamic duo will soon be taking their rightful place in the Hall of Fame.
