The Alchemist Confirms New Mobb Deep Album with Havoc—And Nas Is Involved
Hip-hop fans, get ready—The Alchemist just dropped some major news. A brand-new Mobb Deep album is in the works, with Havoc leading the charge and Nas stepping in to contribute.
The legendary producer revealed the project during an interview on The Breakfast Club while promoting his recent album with 2 Chainz and Larry June, Life Is Beautiful. While reflecting on Mobb Deep’s impact, he spoke about his late friend Prodigy and the deep legacy he left behind.
“They did so much work, it was insane. You could just peel back layers in Prodigy’s rhymes—he was ahead of his time,” Alchemist said. “His legend lives. He did more than the average person while he was here, and he left behind a lot of material. We’re lucky enough to be working on a new Mobb Deep project.”
The album is being crafted by Havoc and The Alchemist, with Nas lending his voice to the project. “It feels great just to hear [Prodigy’s] voice again,” Alchemist added. “We missed it. There’s a void not hearing him anymore.”
Though details remain under wraps, Havoc has been hinting at a Mobb Deep comeback for some time. Last summer, he teased fans from The Alchemist’s studio, confirming that something special was in the works. "New Mobb Deep coming soon,” he said in a video. “R.I.P. Prodigy. You already know what it is.”
The Alchemist later fueled excitement by sharing a snippet of new material, captioning it: “And it begins…”
This will be Mobb Deep’s first album since The Infamous Mobb Deep in 2014. Havoc previously revealed that he had received unreleased vocals from Prodigy’s family and has been carefully piecing the project together. He’s also working on a separate collaboration with Method Man.
As the seventh anniversary of Prodigy’s passing recently passed, Havoc paid tribute to his late partner, writing: “Missing my brother. Feels like just yesterday we were rocking those stages.”
A new Mobb Deep album means one thing—the legacy lives on. Stay tuned.
