Portable in Trouble Again – Arrested Over Criminal Defamation Allegations
Controversial street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over a fresh round of legal troubles — this time for alleged criminal defamation and related offences.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Portable was picked up in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday, April 13, 2025. His arrest followed a petition filed by one Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Osupa, who accused the singer of making defamatory statements and threats.
The petition reportedly listed serious claims including:
Criminal defamation
Threat to life
Incitement
Character assassination
Conduct likely to cause a breach of peace
Use of abusive and insulting language
Given the weight of these accusations and supporting evidence, the police secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin. Acting swiftly, officers from the Kwara command travelled to Abeokuta where Portable was arrested at around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday.
He was immediately transported to Ilorin for questioning. Police confirmed that his statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties, and he remains in custody as authorities prepare to charge him to court.
The Kwara State Police Command emphasized its commitment to due process and urged the public to avoid speculation and misinformation, promising that justice will be handled transparently and fairly.
This latest development adds to Portable’s long list of public controversies and brushes with law enforcement — a reminder that fame doesn’t shield anyone from legal accountability.
